DEBRA K. JOHNSON REHABILITATION CENTER

(Formerly TN Prison for Women)

The Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center is one of several prisons for female offenders. It is the only female maximum-security prison and houses up to 800 inmates. But the women are not just “housed” there but are offered several educational and rehabilitative programs to help them learn and grow.  With Pastor Joan Evrist’s leadership, New Song has been leading services 2-3 times a month for over 10 years. We consider the women at The Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center part of our extended New Song family. Pastor Joan is also a volunteer chaplain, and with others of our New Song family, leads the Domestic Violence Recovery class that is a significant factor when it comes to parole consideration.
